The Confession Box
By Elodie Parkes

Gorgeous Rupert Vass is a bartender at Club Coven. He’s seen some things since he started work there, but Rupert isn’t easily shocked, after all he’s a little supernatural himself.
Rupert thinks he’s immune to love and as a lead member of Deep Dream a rock band that often plays at Club Coven he’s never short of offers.
Julianne Montague wants Rupert the moment she sets eyes on him. She’s a journalist for a local Music Magazine and as she visits Club Coven, she slowly becomes aware that the club holds a mystery.
An intoxicating erotic paranormal romance sprinkled with mystery and filled with magic and love.

Julianne talked with Marcus the bass guitarist in Rupert’s band. She recorded what he said on her smartphone so when her thoughts strayed to Rupert and her gaze followed, she didn’t feel guilty about missing what this strange man said. Jodi and the twin guys had gone off with the roadies and Julianne wondered if she’d get to interview them later.
Club Coven fascinated Julianne, and not just because Rupert was in it, although with his gorgeous looks and exciting aura he drew her there when she should have been elsewhere. She’d soaked up the club atmosphere for a couple of weeks, drinking in the strange charge of mystery and secrets that permeated even the luxury leather seating in the booths along one wall. Carvings of crescent moons, pentagonal stars, and interlocking Cs adorned the table panels. There was an air of great age about the place, and yet the building was only about a hundred years old.
The center of the large main room was opulent. The raised area of the stage, fronted by a parquet dance floor, magically never deteriorated, despite the spike heels of ladies who gyrated to the music. The bar counter sparkled with mirror tiles and an ornate mirror splash back and yet beyond this glitz the light petered out. Balconies and an outside garden were reserved for smoking, but a swirling mist of semi-darkness that resembled smoke was ever present closer to the walls and promised corridors of the club interior.
People flocked to the place for the live band music and the laissez-faire dress code. Julianne learned this attitude also extended to most behavior and she’d seen couples doing more than making out in the dimly lit back booths. There was that weird VIP room, too. She knew it was by invitation only that anyone gained entry, and it seemed from her inquires that you had to have been a member of the club for a very long time, or be one of the ‘in crowd’ who gravitated around the owner, Elza, like moons around an exotic planet. Julianne had sent her a message once, regrettably on a scrap of paper, and via one of the bartenders, asking if she might accept an interview. There’d been no answer, but Elza had cast Julianne a mysterious smile as she passed that night with her entourage of deliciously strange people.
She wasn’t prone to flights of fancy, but Julianne instinctively knew this club held mystery, magic, and romance. It breathed with a life of its own. People appeared and disappeared into the darkness at the back of the club. Rupert went in there too. His band sometimes played in the VIP room. Rupert had the bluest eyes she’d ever seen. He sang and played the guitar in a way that captivated her, held her suspended in awe with her heart hammering, and desire coursing through every cell. Julianne thought about Rupert every night when she was in bed trying to sleep. She recalled his perfect mouth and longed to trace a finger over his lips. She pined for the feel of his muscular arms around her. She imagined sweeping her hands along his hard body.
