Guest Author @JaceyHolbrand Talks Writing Tips & Charmed #Review #Giveaway
Thank you for having me on your blog! I’m happy to be here today to let your readers know about my newest release, ‘Charmed’, from my series, The Glorious Guild of Lady Windsurfer.

If I could share one major writing tip, which could assist other writers in their goal of publication, what would it be and how have I implemented it in my own career?
This isn’t my first go-round with writing and a pen name, so I started on this path with experience under my belt. A tip I have to share for brand new writers: before you have that first story published, learn the ins and outs of the business side of the business, like marketing, and start promotion early. It really does help to know the ropes before jumping in and get some buzz going. For all those already published, connect all your social media sites together. I’ve done that and it makes life so much easier and gives me a better reach to readers. Plus, it’s always better to work smart, not hard. Hope this helps!

Charm finds them sanctuary, yet even in the middle of nowhere, she still gets into trouble. Thorne and Wade have to figure out how to travel to Aurath before Charm’s bad choices lead to their demise.

Excerpt for ‘Charmed’ by Jacey Holbrand

“‘Zasta!’” Wade snapped, catching Thorne’s gaze.
Wade was right. He had to stop. Now wasn’t the place or time to start their connubial ritual. Thorne sat back and willed his libido to take a rest. There’d be a chance at lovemaking once they hied away from the crowds and restaurant.
Sexual urges repressed and mind clear, he comprehended the gravity of her situation and ground his teeth together. His heartbeat quickened and pounded through his temples. Thorne wanted to throttle each and every Rullix. How dare they think they were entitled to any Earth females for their sadistic pleasures?
“Tell us, Charm,” Thorne began, keeping his voice as steady as possible through his rising anger. “How did it come about that you have a Rullix chasing after you?”
She stood, licked her fingers, then picked up a napkin and wiped her mouth. “It’s a bit of a story. I’d rather not start it here on the off chance our friend comes back. Perhaps if we go somewhere el—”
“Thorne, it is time,” Wade cut her off and didn’t appear the least bit apologetic for it. “Our ship should be ready.”
“Ship? You guys have transportation? That’s great. You can take me anywhere I want to go. Oh, thank God. The authorities instituted a lockdown on the city. The tent people can no longer leave. I’ve been used to traveling around the States. I hate being stuck in this—”
“Madam! Cease with your jabbering.” Wade jumped to his feet and towered over Charm by a good foot, and she happened to be taller than most Earth women. He glared at her then set his gaze on Thorne. “Thorne, please tell me I am imagining my feelings for her. Tell me she is not the one for me,” he pleaded in Aurath.

Bethany-Kris's Review of Charmed
Four out of Five Stars

Charm has a way of getting what she wants, but she's also got a way of getting herself into trouble. When she tries to trick a Rullix and fails, and sets herself up with two male Auraths for safety. Thorne and Wade are wandering the wasteland that is earth discussing the topic of mates and waiting for their ship to be repaired so they can return home. Instantly, both men know Charm is their mate, but things aren't so simple. The Rullix hasn't given up in getting his revenge on Charm for her little tricks, and when the ship crashes, the threesome is left in the middle of nowhere until help can come. Trouble is something that seems to find Charm, regardless of where she is and it's right around the corner. Can the three stay alive long enough to get back to the Auraths' planet to start their happily ever after together?

I really enjoyed Ms. Holbrand's The Encounter, so I eagerly picked Charmed one up for a chance to review as well. She's got a way with the sci-fi nature of a story, giving a reader just enough details of the characters and their surroundings to make it interesting while at the same time, making us use our imaginations. I like that aspect quite a bit.Charmed in the second novella in a series, yet I didn't feel left out or wondering on what happened in the first book. I'm curious enough to go pick it up and see, but Charmed focused in on only the relationship between the three and not what happened before.

You have to love Thorne and Wade here. Each have their own distinctive personalities. One comes off a little tough and dominant with a colder exterior, and the other is dominant while still retaining a sweeter nature. They were a ying and yang,I think. It really complimented the heroes. Charm, on the other hand ... girl had spunk. A lot of it. She's a bit of a ball breaker.  I think readers who have trouble with connecting or liking a heroine would find no problems loving Charm. She's sweet without being meek, sassy but not too much, and independent like every woman should be. Charmed was a hot, short read, but it felt right for the situation. The sexual scenes between the three were well-written and left me wanting more. I especially liked the bonding scene. Loved how the author portrayed that--sort of like marriage vows.

At the end of it all, I was left wavering between a five or four stars. My wobble came from the way it ended, really. I felt it so abrupt that one page they were here, the next it was over and I was left wondering how introductions went with the family, or how Charm was accepted into the folds, that sort of thing. I did enjoy the last bit of it. I thought that was really sweet they were able to have something so rare (no spoilers, read to find out what I'm talking about), but I wished we could have had a little more insight to the three settling in and really beginning life together. So, I end it off with a four. It's an enjoyable, fast paced, short and hot read. If you like a bit of sci-fi with your menage, pick this up.
Demyan & Ana: A Russian Guns Novella is on Pre-Order Now #ComingSoon - The Russian Guns
It's less than a week from its release already. I can't believe it. Nerves and excitement abound over here. Demyan & Ana is the 4th book in The Russian Guns series and it's the prequel to Shattered (Demyan's story).

It's intended to be a free read, so some of the vendors have it priced at 0 and some, like Amazon, are apparently slow on the ball for price matching.

They fight to protect those who would never welcome them into the human world...
Petúr always knew he and his brothers-in-arms were different. Something more. Something not human. Yet, he never expected to find out the truth of their origins, nor fall for a human woman whose father was set to destroy Neverland.
Ever since she was a child, Wyndi dreamed of an angel with eyes of the purest gold, although she never really believed such a man existed until she met the hauntingly beautiful Petúr of the lost boys.
With a prophecy to fulfill, a woman to protect, a portal to find, and evil darklings out for blood, will Petúr be strong enough to rise up and claim what’s rightfully his, or lose everything to a long-time nemesis, Grapple the Dark?

Excerpt:

Petúr’s long coat flared out behind him, whipping in the wind—black raven wings. Above him, the moon danced in and out of existence and periodically hid behind the dreary clouds. He’d perched himself atop the rusted metal monstrosity which sat cold and derelict among the ruins of the abandoned seaside amusement park. From the top of the lifeless Ferris wheel he surveyed his realm, just as he did every night, waiting for the faint cries. They always came, those haunting cries, and called him and the lost boys into the darkness.
Cables clacked and Petúr tilted his head in a bird-like gesture, listening to them echo into the rhythmic music of the tide coming ashore. As if on cue, an eerie underlying chorus chimed in from the direction of the closed ticket booth. He recognized the sound of the warped roof when it moaned and creaked. The red painted exterior walls had long since faded and peeled away from the briny wood in elongated streaks, reminiscent of morbid tears.
He closed his eyes and attempted to picture this place he and the others called home, trying to imagine what it must have been during its glory days, but he couldn’t see anything. All he knew was the truth of his surroundings. And, the truth was, with every passing year more of his home crumbled. Even the entrance into this collapsing kingdom had joined the sea, snuffing out the arched sign which once upon a time blinked—Neverland—Mother Nature’s way of taking back her own when she’d claimed a major portion of the boardwalk.
Everything ends.
At least this parcel of land had done one thing. It gave Petúr and the others refuge from a world who’d discarded them as young boys.
He chuckled, darkly, and allowed his mind to wander away from the image of being a boy. He, Firefox, and his five other brothers may still exhibit the outward beauty of youthfulness, yet this was nothing but a façade. They’d grown into fierce warriors and protected the very people who’d spat upon them in their youth. Who would still spit upon them if they got the chance, he suspected.
Shaking his head, Petúr considered what he’d heard the whole of his life may indeed be true. He and the others may well be mad, because only madmen would fight to protect those who would never welcome them fully into the human world they’d had the misfortune of being a part of.
Balling his fists into tight knots, he knew it didn’t matter how many lives he and the others saved. They were still different from those whom they rescued. And, while they may no longer be petty thieves and beggars, they’d always been, and still were—outcasts. Unnatural. Freaks. Something more. Something not human. Although, there wasn’t a damn thing they could do about it, other than to take out their fury on those darklings who sought to destroy the weaker inhabitants of the human race. And take out their fury—they would.
“AAaiiee!”
Petúr abruptly stood when he heard a woman’s distressed scream. He took in a deep breath, tasting the flavor of the night. His lip curled up into a snarl right before he stepped off of his perch, shot into the clouds, and vanished into thin air.

Heart of Atlantis

By Deidre Meyrick

Series: Purgatory, Inc.

Publisher: Evernight Publishing

Genre: MM, Fantasy/Supernatural romance

Cover Artist: Jay Aheer

Release Date: January 30, 2015

Blurb:

Marin was a cursed merman. Where he once walked the streets of Atlantis—where he found his true love—he now swam, alone. Until he was offered a way out: out of his curse and into the heart of another. But would he be able to love another as he did his true love?
Marley was a loner, a treasure hunter with wild theories about Atlantis who fantasized about mermen. He'd always felt a little out of place, always searching for something, and wanting nothing more than to belong to someone completely.
Between them lay several lifetimes and a wicked sorceress bent on possession. Is a soul deep connection enough to bring them together and to break a curse that was meant to never be broken?

Excerpt:

“Marin? Do you believe in fate? In reincarnation?”
“Reincarnation?”
“Past lives. The soul living beyond the death of one body into another.”
“Ah, yes. Transmigration. As it so happens, I do. Why do you ask?”
Marley sighed, flexing his fingers ever so slightly. Just enough to barely touch Marin's. “I think I may have known you then. From before.”
“I think so too, Marley.” Marin held his breath momentarily before he continued. This was the time. This was it. “Aeëtes, his eyes—although everyone in his family had eyes of as dark as the night sky, my Aeëtes’s eyes were a striking blue. As blue as the Aegean Sea or a sky on a clear winter's day. With one exception. His right eye was two colors. Partly the beautiful blue, but like a wave lapping the shore, the blue met with a golden brown.”
Marley's breath caught as Marin described eyes that were identical to his own. Even down to how his parents' eyes were of a drastically different color. No one could ever explain why there was such a difference; they just accepted it as part of who Marley was. “Like mine.” It was barely a whisper, but enough for Marin to hear.
“Yes, just like yours.”

Blog Tour & Review: Arcanus Amator by @ElyzabthValey - #Fantasy #Erotic @EvernightPub

Arcanus Amator by +Elyzabeth M. VaLey

Genre: Fantasy, Erotic, Romance on the Go

As an Arcánús, one of Cupid’s blessed children, Amandus’s mission in life was to aid his father in bestowing love upon others.Unfortunately, when he found his own soul mate he was incapable of making her perceive their connection. Furthermore, she doomed their love forever. Amandus’s only hope is a spell concocted by Cupid: The Arcánús Amator: Spell of the Secret Lovers.

Hailey is desperate for love. She’s so desperate that when she finds a spell on the internet that promises to connect soul mates, she decides she must try it. Convincing her friend Hannah to help her, the girls embark on a one-night craze that will produce life-changing results and bring to life what was thought to be only a myth.

She frowned. “What the hell’s happened?” She was quite sure this was not how the spell worked. Granted, she hadn’t exactly read the entire information sheet on the website.
“No one does,” she whined, bouncing on the balls of her feet while staring at the flickering flame of the candle. The thing was more than 20 pages long. It was like reading one of those
software agreements. No one read the damn thing. She’d read the instructions and the first page with all the warnings and that was more than enough. Taking a deep breath, she managed to settle her nerves a little. Everyone thought she was the ditsy blonde obsessed with the occult, but she wasn’t. She was a hard worker, impatient when things didn’t go as expected. It was partially the reason why she’d filed through so many relationships. Why stay with a guy when he clearly had nothing to offer? Some of her friends argued that she didn’t give them a chance. She begged to differ. She’d given them a chance, they just hadn’t taken it.
True, her impatience sometimes got her into some trouble but it also saved her from a lot of it. That, however, wasn’t the case now. Annoyed that the spell had gone awry, she brushed
back her bangs impatiently. Whatever had happened was not important. The priority was getting Hannah back home. Scanning the room for her discarded laptop, she did a double take.
Obstructing the exit to the living room stood the most gorgeous man she had laid eyes on. He was massive. His head almost brushed the top of the doorframe. His heavily muscled arms were crossed in front of him, his chest bare except for the intricate design of a red-inked tattoo that started around his left nipple and descended across his side to his hip. Low on his hips, he wore a long black skirt made out of what looked like leather.
Hailey hesitated a moment before finally glancing fully at his face. Her breath stilled as their eyes locked. A clear shade of violet, they were not from this world. Swallowing, she took a step backwards without breaking her stare. The stranger’s eyes glittered with curiosity and amusement.
“Careful with the center of the star,” he warned.
Hailey stumbled and froze. His voice was deep and commanding and had a familiar ring to it that sent her senses reeling. Shaking her head slightly, she continued moving away from him.
“Watch—”
Breath exploded from her lungs as she crashed into a shelf, a few ornaments she and Hannah kept, crashing to the floor.
“—out. Are you all right?”
Hailey winced, the back of the shelf digging into her skin, but she nodded anyway. The stranger flashed her a grin that made her knees weak. Hailey swallowed. The urge to see him smile again clawed at her insides like a desperate hunger.
Ignoring her, he glanced down at the pentagram, his silky dark curls framing his strong jaw and straight nose.
“You don’t look like you knew what you were getting into.”
Hailey held on to the bookcase behind her. She was afraid that if she moved the whole thing would topple over her head and she’d wake up, realizing that the man in the center of the room was nothing more than a dream.
“Read the first page of the instructions and didn’t bother to read the rest, huh?”
His eyes lifted to hers with a sassy smirk that lit up his violet eyes. Hailey stared speechless, the urge to touch the man making her palms itch as if she’d stepped into poison ivy.
“Yeah, you never did care what you got into, Ariadne.”
Goose bumps sprouted over her flesh and she released the shelf, rubbing her arms in an attempt to warm her suddenly chilled skin. Ariadne. The name rang in her ears like a long forgotten memory always running at the edge of her vision, just a breadth away from her grasp.
“I—”
No words came out as he carefully watched her face, almost as if saving every detail of her features into his memory. Her mouth felt parched, her tongue too large, as she searched for words that wouldn’t come.
 “Yes?”
Butterflies danced in the pit of her stomach and her chest tightened, making it difficult to breathe. Fear mingled with a strange sense of joy. Names, places, and moments in time danced in the edge of her vision, taunting her to remember them, taunting her to say them aloud but fleeing before she could take hold of them.
“My name isn’t…”
The man raised his dark eyebrows, the shadow of a smile lifting the edge of his full lips. “I know.”
“Oh.”

Defined as weird since she was about eight, Elyzabeth honors the title by making up songs about her chores, doodling stars and flowers on any blank sheet of paper and talking to her dog whenever he feigns interest.

Losing the battle to the voices in her head is her favorite pastime after annoying her younger sister with her singing. Writing stories full of passion and emotion where love conquers all is her happy pill and she'll forgo sleep to make her readers live the dream.

Bethany-Kris's Review of Arcanus Amator
Four out of Five Stars

Araidne, a witch blinded by her bitterness and lack of love, meets her mate on the battlefield but is too filled with her hatred and anger to see what she's been searching for has finally been delivered. Dooming the God Cupid's children to a bleak forever where they will never be able to be with their mates, she unknowingly also dooms what should be her own love. Fast forward to the present time, and a seemingly human Hailey is searching for love. Valentines Day gives her the perfect opportunity to use an internet spell she found that will connect her with her soulmate. But nothing is quite like it seems.

Arcanus Amator weaves an interestingly beautiful tale between fantasy and present day. At the heart of this short read, the lesson is clear. The need for power can drive the very person who seeks it to the brink of insanity and blind to the one thing they're looking for. I adored how the author played that lesson into the plot, both the past piece and the future. The short story is hot enough to keep you absolutely enthralled as two soulmates are reunited for just one night. Or ... maybe more. After all, there has to be a way out of every curse.

All in all, I enjoyed the read. I would have liked a little more detail with the fantasy and magical aspect, but the story held well on its own as it was. If you're interested in a short, fan-worthy read that mixes lore, magic, and the present day together, Arcanus Amator is just what you're looking for.

Guest Author @Raven McAllen talks His Boss, Her Dom #BDSM @EvernightPub
His Boss, Her Dom.

Going out with someone you work with is a funny old state to be in. I reckon most of us have been there at some point in our lives, and if we haven't loved, lived with or married them, managed the 'no we're not together anymore' with aplomb.
Or moved jobs.
Sometimes though, it can get a bit complicated. No I'm not talking illicit romance, (unless of course all fraternization between co-workers is forbidden), I'm talking, just who is the boss.
Is a guy happy taking orders from his lady at work?
Is a woman happy going out with a guy who she oversees?
Generally, I guess we fumble (no not literally) our way through the settling down period, avoid the pitfalls as best we can, and emerge relatively unscathed at the other end.
Sometimes though, it's just not that simple.
As in this case… Can a woman boss be a sub, to her subordinate, who happens to be a Dom?
I got the idea for this when a friend was talking about how she met her hubby. No he wasn't a Dom but she was his boss, and they both found it hard to swap roles at home, even though they wanted to.
I guess that germ of an idea grew into an ohhh now, how about, and then into this book.
So can they cope with being, His Boss, Her Dom?
You'll need to read the book to find out.

Happy Reading,

Love, R x

Blurb:

Having a relationship with your boss is never easy, especially when it involves kink. Jamie might need to salute Eva and call her Ma'am at work, but when it's just the two of them, he is Master to his puss.

They are determined to make their unusual situation work, but, first they have to solve the case of the shady next door neighbors.

Hiss Boss Excerpt:

Why the hell did she look familiar? Jamie scratched the ears of Russ, and searched his brain. He'd seen her before, he was sure of it, but for the life of him couldn't think where. He hoped to god it wasn't somewhere that could jeopardize this job.
The voluptuous woman standing in front of him was, he judged, in her early to mid forties, so around ten or twelve years older than him, with a body he itched to taste. Those curves were made for him to touch and hold and…whoa, hold it there. She's not one of the subbies who want a little bit of pain, nipple clamps, a nice crop mark over their ass, and a butt plug. She's just someone on this postal round that may or may not know something to help me. More's the pity. He coughed to regain her attention.
"Bad news?"
"What?" The woman—Eva—looked up from the paper in her hand with a peculiar smile on her face. "Oh no just the opposite. Am I last on your route like normal?"
He nodded. "Well you're last on my route anyway."
"Good, then you can come in and tell me all about it." She unlocked the door and preceded him into the kitchen. "Russ can come in as well. I can't be doing with chasing after him again. Although he has a well honed sense of preservation, and after the first kick up the jacksie the asshole, sorry my neighbor gave him, he only heads off in that direction when their car has gone down the lane."
Jamie shut the door behind them. Even though the day passed as warm for Scotland, there was enough humidity to make the midges a pain in the ass. A pain everywhere in all honesty. He scratched a bite and made a mental note to put repellant in the van the next day.
"Here." Eva handed him a small bottle. "Antihistamine. It'll stop you itching. At this time of year the midges are horrendous. Lovely long evenings that I admire from behind glass, and watch clouds of the buggers trying to get in. Remember, repellent is your best friend on this route." She picked up the kettle and turned on the tap.
Jamie laughed. "Yes, Ma'am."
Eva spun round from the sink, unheeding of the water that spilled over her hands and dripped onto the floor. "Why did you call me Ma’am?"
Now he was confused. "Well, you sounded bossy. Sorry, I thought you'd get the joke. You know Ma’am, in charge sort of thing. I'm sorry if it upset you." Shit, I hope she's not one of those touchy feminist types.
"Not at all. I just wondered why Ma’am." She turned back to the sink, switched the tap off and then the kettle on before mopping the floor. Only then did she swivel around to face him again. "And yes, Sergeant, you can call me Ma’am, if you want to. Otherwise, here, Eva will be fine."
He knew fine well his jaw dropped. She'd made him? How the fuck?
Eva smiled at him. "Sorry Sergeant." She waved the letter he'd brought, and she'd signed for. "It doesn't matter how often I tell them that post to this neck of the woods takes longer than in the city, do they ever listen?" she asked—rhetorically he assumed. "Oh no," she went on. "They post this at some stupid hour of the night and expect me to get it the day after. Not only that some penny pinching asshat put a second class stamp on it. So, Sergeant James Swinton, from a different area of the force, How about telling me what you've found out."
He shut his mouth, and swallowed heavily. "Ah. Oh bollocks, am I deep in the shit?"
"Ah, indeed." Eva reached into a drawer and took out small leather wallet. "And no, not at all, unless you think you should be for not recognizing me." She went bright red. "Although I've only had brief contact with you. I…er…taught a session when you were on a training course last year." She, handed him the wallet, and he saw what was inside.
A warrant card with her photo on and stating she was a Chief Inspector in the Scottish Police force. Okay, he'd buy that, even though it was the biggest cock deflator since Sadie Stewart laughed at his attempt to find her clit. Mind you he was only a teenager at the time, and his aim and attention to the female body had improved considerably since then.
"Ma’am." He snapped to attention and she laughed.
"I'm allegedly on holiday, and you're allegedly a postie, so we can cut the formalities I reckon. Time enough to get out the tags and labels when we have to. You're a long way from home, why did they choose you?"

About the Author:
A multi-published, best selling author of erotic romance, Raven lives in Scotland, along with her husband, in a house much too big for them—their children having flown the nest—surrounded by beautiful scenery, which inspires a lot of the settings in her books.
She is used to sharing her life with the occasional deer, red squirrel, and lost tourist, to say nothing of the scourge of Scotland—the midge. As once she is writing she is oblivious to everything else, her lovely long-suffering husband is learning to love the dust bunnies, work the Aga, and be on stand-by with a glass of wine.
