What I #AmReading! #Romance #Crime
So, seems my mind just maybe needed a little break this week from writing because I have several projects happening at the same time.

And to prevent a burnout, which for me is like a month of staring at blank documents and never being able to write a word, I chose to take a week and chill.

Chilling for me means reading--a lot more than I normally do.

I honestly believe that almost all authors, especially fiction authors, start out as readers. And there was a time when I downed a book or two a day, depending on my current mood. And then I started writing somewhere along the road, and my reading time became limited by that.

After all, the more I read, the less I have time to write.

And that's not what I'm looking to do here, ha.

So when I get undulated with recommendations for "what I need to read right this very minute" I almost always pass on them, sorry. That's just a sacrifice I make so that my writing doesn't suffer by the fact I could easily lay on the couch for a month and just read all the things.

Not even being a little dramatic there.

But since I'm doing the chilling thing, I went and picked up some novels I have been dying to get my hands on.

And don't be surprised that they're all by the same author -- I love her, plus, I wanted to finish this Brtava series of hers out because she kept leaving me hanging. And now I am just gonna do it all at once, like ripping off a goddamn bandage.

Blurb and Release Date Reveal: Gun Moll - #MafiaRomance @ErinTheAuthor
So, my co-author and I are sharing both the blurb and the release date for Gun Moll, a project we have been working on for several months now, quietly. I'm excited to share Mac and Melina's first story, starting their long journey together out.

Now, down to business ...

It's always about the business.

Release date is firm at: Monday, May 23rd, 2016

And now for the blurb ...

James “Mac” Maccari’s career in the mafia is at a standstill. As the best solider in his Capo’s crew, all he wants is to be noticed enough to get Made in the Pivetti Crime Family. But instead, his Capo’s interests seem more focused on keeping his solider hidden from the boss, and every other Made man he can. Seemingly stuck right where he is with no chance of going up, Mac doesn’t know what will finally get him the attention he needs to earn his button.

Until she shows up and all eyes are on them …

Melina Morgan survives—that’s just what she does. She’s never been able to depend on anyone but herself to keep her safe and get things done. When a chance encounter puts her in a bad situation with the cops and the mafia, Melina has no choice but to put her faith in the hands of a man that not only infuriates her with his cocky arrogance, but catches her interest, too. Playing pretend in a fake relationship with Mac doesn’t seem all that terrible, until pretend turns real and bullets start to fly.

A man is nothing without his woman …

When the attention on Mac and Melina turns from bad to worse, and someone in the Pivetti Crime Family decides the couple needs to go, they know they’re fighting an uphill battle alone. But making it to the end alive means Mac could get what he’s always wanted, and Melina might find what she didn’t even know she needed.

Together, they’ll make waves the mafia has no choice but to notice …

Teaser: Gun Moll - #MafiaRomance Coming Soon! @ErinTheAuthor

Today, I am sharing an unedited excerpt from my co-author title, Gun Moll. It's the first book in our Gun Moll series. Erin Ashley Tanner agreed to work with me on this project, and we are super excited to share with everyone. So, let's meet Mac and Melina.

Find Gun Moll on Goodreads.

“A good man always takes care of his girl,” Mac said quietly.
Melina’s eyes opened again at those words. “But I’m not really your girl, Mac.”
“So? I should still take care of you.”
“What if I was?”
“My girl?” Mac asked.
Mac cocked a brow, eyeing Melina as she grabbed a loofa off the ledge of the tub and began dropping dollops of milky colored body wash onto the frilly cloth. “I don’t understand what you’re asking.”
Melina drew the loofa over her arms, covering her slick skin in white suds. “If I was your girl, then what would you do, Mac?”
Mac smiled, leaned forward, and snatched the loofa from Melina’s hand. He ignored her quiet ‘hey’ and started running the loofa up and down her legs with smooth, long strokes.
“Mac, I asked you a question,” Melina said.
“I would spoil you rotten,” Mac said, shooting her a look through his hair that had fallen down over his gaze. “Whatever you wanted, whether you needed it or not, I would make it happen. I’d make damn sure you felt as beautiful as you looked, regardless of what you needed to feel that way. I’d take you out every chance I could just to show you off to the people who can’t have you because you’re all mine. But I’d have my fucking hands on you all night so that they knew to stay away. It’d probably feel like my fingerprints were burned into your skin because I’d be holding you that tight.”
Melina’s tongue peeked out to wet her bottom lip. “What else?”
“I’d always keep an eye on you, even if you didn’t know I was doing it, just to make sure you were good and safe. I’d wake you up in the morning, every single morning, with my hands all over you and my mouth kissing all the spots I could find. I’d make sure that whenever you were stressed out, or something was on your mind, bothering you, that you could take some time away from life and the world to be just you again. Simple stuff, you know.”
“Simple.” Melina scoffed. “Right. That sounds more like worshipping, Mac.”
Mac didn’t see the difference. “If a man cares enough, worshipping his woman should be the simplest, easiest, and most obvious thing for him to do every day, doll. She should be the most important thing on his mind. The first and last thing he considers every day and night.”
Melina’s gaze flitted from Mac’s face and then down to the bubbly water. “Oh.”
Oddly, it bothered Mac like nothing else that he could tell Melina had never been given the pleasure of having a man treasure her like she should be treasured. No one had every loved her enough to worship the very ground she walked on, or had seen her for the beautiful gift she truly was.
It nagged in his chest.
Poked at him like a needle.
Over and over.
Like a damned tattoo was being penned permanently to his skin, reminding him that Melina deserved someone who would treasure and treat her the way she should be cared for. Didn’t he have enough going on where this girl was concerned without adding something like that to the pile as well?
Mac sighed, shaking off the strange feeling. “I suppose it doesn’t matter, anyway.”
Melina sucked in a quiet breath before asking, “Why not?”
“You’re not mine, doll. Or at least, you don’t want to be.”
Melina didn’t respond, but she wouldn’t meet Mac’s eyes again.
He continued washing her stress away.
Mac didn’t need a response.

Blurb and Release Date Reveal - Thin Lies, Donati Bloodlines #MafiaRomance
I am excited to finally share the blurb and release date for Thin Lies, Donati Bloodlines #1.

For Marcello fans, and the readers looking forward to the Legacy series, the Donati Boodlines Trilogy will be of interest for you. Why? Because it is the story of Cross Donati's parents and how he came to be.

So, let's get down to the sharing business, yes?

Release date is firm for May 2nd, 2016.

You can find Thin Lies on Goodreads.

Now ... for the blurb!

Calisto Donati

She was just a woman. That’s what Calisto wanted to tell himself; that’s what he wanted to believe. Emma was nothing more than a woman. There were other women for him to want. To obsess over.
It couldn’t be Emma Sorrento.
Not for Calisto.
She was taken.
She was claimed.
She was not his.
In a few days, Calisto would hand her off, and that would be that. He wondered why it wouldn’t be that easy to let her go.
What good had saving her done?
He had simply taken her from one monster to give her to another.

Emma Sorrento

Emma slid on her mask. All someone would need to do was look close enough to see what was really beneath the sheer falseness of her smile.
At the other end of the table, Emma found her lies staring her right in the face.
He smirked.
And winked.
Calisto Donati was her worst mistake, her greatest shame, and the one thing she still wanted more than anything. Emma could still feel him all over her, long after his touch and kiss was gone. In thirty days, her entire world had changed—he had changed her.
Emma had a feeling that if she played another game with Calisto, she would surely lose.
She had already lost once.
Wasn’t it enough?

Super Secret Projects & Coming Releases Announcements
For the last several months, I have been working on what a co-author and I have been calling our "super secret project". We did that--called it that--only because at the time we started writing together, we had no real idea how long it would take for us to finish this story, and we didn't want to begin announcing things with no real dates or solid info to give.

Seems fair, yeah?

Gun Moll, the first book in the Gun Moll series, has been an interesting project, to say the least. It was the first time I actively sought out a partner to write with, and I couldn't have been more happy when Erin Ashley Tanner said yes to writing the story(ies) with me.

And since we're finally closing in on the end and have a real end date in sight, it's time to finally start talking about it.

My release schedule over the next few months has changed a bit. Originally, I was going to begin publishing my Donati series in May, and each book would come out back to back, month after month.

I wanted to do it that way ... but things changed.

Like the fact I picked up two co-authors, Erin mentioned above, and also London Miller, in the midst of writing, and the release of my Donati books would clash with the release of those books. I cannot explain how much work, time, and effort goes into releasing a book, never mind releasing two books in one month.

It is a lot.

Let me repeat: a lot.

So while the schedule will change a bit, I still think it will be good for all the readers looking forward to the Donati books, and now the new books from me and my co-authors.

Below is a look at the next few months of releases coming from me. Because I have long since promised that Thin Lies, the first Donati book, would release in May, that will not be changing.

Thin Lines, Donati Bloodlines #2

No releases, as I am getting married this month, and have promised my hubby I would take it off.

Thin Lives, Donati Bloodlines #3

AFTER September, the Guzzi series will publish, and then I *will* be working on Legacy series, as well as subsequent books for the series with my co-authors.

This is a lot to look forward to. And while I know everyone was looking forward to getting my Donati books one right after the other, I am still giving you books one right after the other, haha.

Just now, it'll be different books.

Thank you, and I will be sharing more soon!

Playlist for Breathless & Bloodstained (The Chicago War, 4) #MafiaRomance
The playlist for B & B was probably one of the easiest I ever made. The songs were obvious, and easy to pick. This couple had always, from the very beginning, spoke much louder than the rest.

I simply had to get to them first.

Enjoy the music, and release week for the final War novel!

New Release: Breathless & Bloodstained #MafiaRomance

I am SO excited to share the final War novel with everyone! This series was such a challenging, emotional ride for me. I am happy, relieved, and sad to see it end (although we may still see a novella or two) with Breathless & Bloodstained.

I so hope that Tommas and Abriella give you everything you might be looking for from the end of this series.

All my love,

Find Breathless & Bloodstained at the following:

No war is won without a few bloodstains.

Tommas Rossi wants what belongs to him—he wants it bad. At thirty-years-old, he’s on course to become the youngest boss in the Chicago Outfit’s history. He just has to make it to the end alive. But being the boss of the Outfit means nothing to Tommas if a certain blue-eyed girl isn’t standing with him when the city finally crumbles. The crown is so close he can taste it. Blood paves his way. Every king needs a queen, but he doesn’t know how to get his anymore.

Abriella Trentini has always been the rebel. She’s quicker than most men, dangerous when she wants something, and more careful than anyone knows. Her relationship with Tommas Rossi has been a dangerous game she loved to play, but someone always has to lose. With choices to make, the kind that determines who will live and who will die, Abriella doesn’t know what to do. This should have been easy, but nothing ever is, and her time to choose is running out.

So much blood has spilled for this. The Outfit is in shambles, grieving and angry. The families just want peace. No one knows who will take the Chicago throne because too many men have a stake in this game. In wars like these, no one will let it go easily.

They’ll be bloodstained until the very bitter end.

And left breathless in the devastation of it all.

Has it been worth it?

Please Note: Breathless is the fourth book in a series and should only be read after the first three books have also been read. It is NOT a standalone.

#Teaser of Thin Lies (Donati Bloodlines, 1) #MafiaRomance #ComingSoon

Hey, all.

So, I'm currently working on finishing the second Donati Bloodlines book, Thin Lines. The first book, however, is finished and is currently going through edits with Nina S. Gooden. I was crazy excited to work with her for this new series of mine.

Today I am going to share an excerpt from the first Donati Bloodlines novel. Thin Lies in the start of it all, the beginning of Calisto Donati and Emma Sorrento's affair that lasts ... years.

And that's really all I can say without giving too much away. I will add some warnings for this novel on the blurb, things like ... it's not a safe romance, the first two books end on cliffhangers, and the HEA doesn't come until the final book. It's not going to be everyone's cup of tea, so take note of the things I warn you about.

Now, onto the teaser.

Add Thin Lies to Goodreads TBR.

“Maximo,” Affonso said, “are we just about ready to leave for the church?”

Emma was shocked that her uncle was going to church at all. He hadn’t returned to the Catholic church since he divorced his first wife. Maybe it was another way for Maximo to extend a hand to Affonso in friendship. She wasn’t sure.

Her uncle nodded. “Yes, we are. The cars are waiting.”

“We’ll catch up in a minute. I want a second alone with Emma, if you wouldn’t mind, old friend.”

Maximo passed Emma a look as if to silently ask if she was okay with the request herself. Emma didn’t see how her opinion of things mattered at all. It hadn’t before, so why would it now?

Before long, the house had cleared of people but for one man standing at the bay window. The color streaming in through the glass bathed him in bright light, showcasing a tall frame and broad shoulders hugged by a tailored suit. His dark hair was cropped short, but it was still long enough for him to run his fingers through as he lifted a glass of water in his hand to take a drink.

“Now that we’re alone,” Affonso said, turning to Emma.

She shot the quiet man with his back turned a look. “Um—”

“My nephew always stays close by. Ignore him. As I said earlier, I was promised a girl who knew her place, Emma. I want to make sure you understand everything that it means.”

“I think you explained it well enough.”

“Then why are you trembling like a little leaf?” he asked.

Emma stilled on the spot. She hadn’t realized that she was still shaking. “I’m nervous.”

Affonso frowned. “Calisto?”

The man at the window turned his head slightly, just enough to stare at his uncle and Emma. Dark brown, almost black, eyes and a strong jaw framed the man’s face. His sharp cheekbones and unsmiling lips hardened his features, but it still stunned Emma.

It stunned her because he was … beautiful.

A hint of something dangerous and sinful wafted from the young man as the corner of his mouth tugged upwards into something resembling a smirk or even a sneer. She couldn’t be sure. Long fingers wrapped tighter around the glass he was holding, drawing Emma’s attention to the fact he wore no wedding band and his hands seemed strong.

She could clearly see the resemblance between the younger man—Calisto, his uncle had said—and his uncle.

“Sì?” Calisto asked.

“Cal, ottenere vino. Fill a glass. Hurry before someone comes back and bitches about her age and drinking.”

Calisto chuckled deeply. The sound came out dark and heavy, and his tall, fit frame rocked with movement. Emma thought he sounded almost musical, even if the man looked entirely bored with the situation and day.

“Whatever you need, zio.”

Then, Calisto was gone.

“Wine?” Emma asked.

“It’ll take the edge off for you,” Affonso said, smiling widely. “As long as you’re a good girl, Emma, I will always take care of you.”

A good girl.

Emma felt sick again.

“And of course, Cal will always be around to keep an eye on you when I can’t,” Affonso added. “He’s closer to your age at twenty-seven. Too bad, really. Had he wanted what I wanted for him, then I wouldn’t need you at all, Emma.”

What was that supposed to mean?

“I prefer Emmy,” she said.

It was the only thing that came to her mind. She felt stupid for even saying it, but it was better than spitting out how disgusted the man made her.

“Emmy,” Affonso echoed. “Sounds a bit girlish and young, doesn’t it?”

Suddenly, a presence was behind Emma. She knew Calisto was back before he’d even said a thing.

“Here,” Calisto said, handing Emma a glass of wine.

Her fingers brushed his and warmth spread up her arm. She pulled her limb and the wine glass back as fast as she could, but not before dropping her gaze.

“Thank you,” she said.

“I prefer Emmy.”

Emma’s head jerked up, finding Calisto watching her curiously.

“Pardon?” Affonso asked.

“Her name. Emmy. I like it.”

Emma tipped her wine glass up and gulped down a mouthful just to keep from smiling. Who was this man? A few minutes ago, he seemed like he didn’t care who she was or if she was even breathing.

“It’s got a nice ring, zio,” Calisto added. “Rolls off the tongue, if you know what I mean.”

Affonso scowled. “You would think so, Cal. Hurry up with the wine, Emma. We have things to do and people to see. A good Don doesn’t keep people waiting. You’ve spent enough time around Maximo to know this.”

Emma drank her wine a little bit slower.
